Plenty of apps hand out badges for opening a menu. That has never impressed anyone. So we built a patch system with a rule at its heart: the ones that matter, you earn behind the wheel.

Sixteen patches, three tracks

RV Compass badges are styled as embroidered mission patches, across three tracks so there's something to chase for every kind of traveler:

• Road — GPS-verified, earned by actually driving the miles.
• Planner — for building great trips.
• Community — for helping the RVers around you.

You can't grind them from the couch

Road patches are the real thing precisely because they can't be faked. A trip only counts when it's actually driven, and a rig gets stamped as "travelled" once — so there's no farming a badge by replaying the same trip from your driveway. RV Compass knows the difference between planning a trip and taking one, and the patches respect it.

Some you collect again and again

A few badges are collectibles. Break in a new rig and you can earnShakedown Cruise all over again — it's scoped per rig. Monthly patches reset so you can chase them all year. And The Long Haul is a living record of your longest driving day that re-engraves itself every time you beat it.

When you finish a trip, the recap is where the payoff lands: any patches you earned along the way reveal with a staggered spring-in, and award toasts arrive in a warm golden-hour glow. (One patch you can't earn later at all: Charter Member is reserved for people who join the waitlist before launch.)

A profile worth sharing — entirely on your terms

Earn the patches, and you can show them off on an opt-in public profile at your own/u/handle: a pinned patch strip, a travel-stats band, a clickable badge wall, and a photo grid. It comes with a QR code made for the introduction you actually have at a campground — "scan this, here's who we are" from the site next door.

But because trust is the whole point of RV Compass, privacy isn't an afterthought here — it's the design:

• Off by default. Your profile is private until you turn it on, section by section.
• Home stays home. Your home base, addresses, and email are never in a public profile — the server filters them out before anything leaves the database.
• Maps keep secrets. Any trip map you choose to share is trimmed at both ends, simplified, and zoomed out — the start and end of every route are removed before it's shown.
• Invisible to search unless you say so. Public profiles ship with search-engine indexing off until you flip it on.
• Photos forget where they were taken. Avatars and rig photos are re-encoded to strip EXIF and GPS data before they ever upload.

A badge wall should be a record of where you've actually been — and yours to share exactly how you want, or not at all.
