The best road data doesn't come from a database. It comes from the rig a few miles ahead of you — the one that just passed the debris, the speed trap, the lane closure you're about to hit.

Community reports are only useful if you can trust them, and trust is where most crowd-sourced alerts fall apart: the map fills up with stale warnings for a closure that reopened last week. So we built RV Compass road alerts to clean up after themselves.

Alerts that expire on their own

Every alert is ephemeral. Each kind — debris, construction, a speed trap, a closure — carries its own lifespan and quietly disappears when that time is up. Nothing lingers on the map for months pretending a hazard is still there.

As other rigs reach the same spot, RV Compass asks a simple question: still there?

• When a nearby driver reports the same kind of hazard, it doesn't clutter the map with a duplicate — it merges in as a confirmation, and the alert grows more trustworthy.
• Drivers passing the spot vote still-there or gone.
• Two net "gone" votes and the alert clears for everyone. The crowd that raised it is the crowd that retires it.

You also get an approach callout — a heads-up as you near a reported hazard, not a surprise as you're on top of it.

A confirmed low bridge doesn't just warn — it reroutes

Here's where it goes beyond a warning layer. When reports of a low clearance or a road closure are confirmed, they can be promoted into our moderated hazard pipeline — the same one that feeds routing overrides. So a low bridge the map data missed, spotted by a real RVer, doesn't just flash a warning: once verified, it starts bending the route for every rig that comes after. The map gets smarter because someone ahead of you drove it first.

Reported by RVers, tuned for rigs, and honest about its own shelf life. That's the only kind of crowd-sourced data worth trusting on a 13-foot-6 coach.
