The best part of shopping for an RV is walking through one

Ask anyone who has been RVing for a while how they picked their first rig, and there is a good chance the story starts at an RV show. You can read every spec sheet online, but nothing tells you more than climbing the steps, sitting at the dinette, and standing in the shower to see if you fit.

A big show puts more floor plans under one roof than you could see in a month of dealer visits. Class A next to fifth wheel next to a little teardrop. You learn fast what you love, what you can live without, and how long a rig feels once you are standing inside it. It is also a lot of fun. There are seminars, there are people who have been full-time for twenty years and are happy to tell you what they would do differently, and there is usually a funnel cake somewhere.

The hard part has always been finding the shows. They are spread across the calendar and the country, and the details you need are scattered across a dozen organizer sites. So we built a home for them.

A map of upcoming RV shows

Our RV shows directory now opens with a map. Every upcoming show is a pin. Solid orange pins start within the next three months. White pins with an orange outline are further out, so you can see what is coming this season at a glance and still plan ahead for next spring.

Where shows sit close together, the pins group into a circle with a count. Tap it to zoom in. Tap a single pin and you get the show's name, dates, and city, with a link to its full page. The same map sits at the top of each state and month page too, so if you only care about shows in Texas, or you have a free weekend in February, you start with just those.

Below the map, every show is still listed by month, so nothing depends on the map loading.

What is on each show page

Each show has its own page with the things you would want to know before you go: the dates and daily hours, admission, and where the show is held.

Because RV Compass is built around big rigs, every page has a section on getting there and big-rig parking. Where we have confirmed details, we spell them out. Where we have not, we say so plainly and point you to the organizer before you drive a 40-foot coach into a fairground lot.

You also get the typical weather for that time of year, and when the show is a few days out, the page adds a live forecast for show week with a gust warning for tall rigs. There is a list of RV parks and campgrounds within 30 miles of the venue, with big-rig friendly sites first, plus fuel and dump stations nearby.

From "that looks fun" to a planned trip

Every show page ends with a button to plan your trip to that show in RV Compass. Tap it and RV Compass opens with the show ready to go. You can:

  • Add it to a trip you are already planning. RV Compass slots the show in where it adds the least detour, and saves the dates, hours, and a link to the show page in the stop's notes.
  • Start a new trip. The new trip ends at the show. Set your departure date and plan the drive like any other trip, on routes that fit your rig.

If you are not signed in yet, you sign in first and land right back on the show.

Add a show and RV Compass slots it in where it adds the least detour, with the dates and hours in the stop's notes.

You can also start from the map in RV Compass, on the web or in the app. Turn on the RV shows layer and the same pins appear alongside your route. Tap one to open the show card: dates and hours, the venue and its RV parking, big-rig notes, the forecast or typical weather, and nearby campgrounds you can add as an overnight stop with one tap. Then add the show itself to your trip.

It works the other way, too. If you have a dated trip planned and a show is happening within 50 miles of one of your stops or your route while you are out there, it shows up under "RV shows on this trip." You might find out the Saturday you planned to spend on the road could be spent walking through rigs instead.

Plan it on the web or in the app, and the same trip is on your phone when it is time to drive.

Come say hi

We go to shows too. If you spot us at one, come say hello. We will add the Show Goer badge to your RV Compass profile, and we would love to hear what you are looking at.

Find an RV show near you, and we will see you on the show floor.
