About the show

The CROWN MOTORS NorCal Boat, Sport & RV Show is a three-day indoor and outdoor consumer show at the Shasta District Fair & Event Center in Anderson, just south of Redding. The 2027 edition is billed as the 41st, which makes it one of the longest-running outdoor shows in the far north of California. Crown Motors is the title sponsor, and the show is produced by ExpoSure Shows, the same company behind four winter sportsmen's shows in Oregon.

What to expect

This is a broad outdoor recreation show rather than a dealer-only RV sale. Expect boats, fishing and hunting gear, camping and off-road equipment, guides and lodges, and RVs sharing the fairgrounds over one weekend in early March. The producer's 2027 plans across its five shows include live wildlife presentations, a photo contest with a trail camera category, a head and horns competition, seminars, and family activities such as a trout pond and a climbing wall. Check the official page before you go to see which of these come to Anderson.

Why it suits RVers

The show lands just before the spring camping season in Shasta County, so it is a good place to price a boat or trailer, compare gear for Lake Shasta or Whiskeytown, and talk to outfitters about summer trips. The fairgrounds also runs its own RV park, which makes it practical to roll in with your rig and stay close to the halls.

Before you go

Friday opens at noon, while Saturday and Sunday open in the morning. An ATM is on site, and service dogs are welcome.

Getting there and big-rig parking

RV parking on site. Shasta District Fair & Event Center, 1890 Briggs Street, Anderson, CA 96007.

Confirmed on the venue's RV park page: the Shasta District Fair & Event Center has 96 RV spaces on the grounds, most with power, water and sewer, at $45 a night with hookups and $40 without. The page links to a booking inquiry, and the venue phone is (530) 378-6789. The grounds are at 1890 Briggs Street in Anderson.

Not published: where show visitors park a motorhome or a truck and trailer for the day, which gate to use, or whether the RV park takes visitors on show weekend.

Suggestion, not confirmed: call the venue before you travel and ask for an RV park site for the show dates, then walk to the halls from your site. If you are coming only for the day in a 40 foot coach, arrive close to opening, when lots have the most open space, and ask the parking staff where oversized vehicles go. If the grounds are full, several RV parks sit within a few miles in Anderson and Redding.

Around Anderson

Anderson sits on the Sacramento River at the south end of the Redding area, and early March is a good time to see the region before summer heat and crowds arrive.

The river runs along the east side of town, and riverside parks in Anderson and Redding have walking paths and good spots to watch birds and anglers working the spring runs. About 10 miles north, Redding's Sundial Bridge and Turtle Bay Exploration Park make an easy half day off the show floor.

Shasta Dam and Lake Shasta are about 20 miles north. The dam has a visitor area with views of Mount Shasta on clear days, and the lake's marinas are where many show visitors end up using the boats they shop for. West of Redding on Highway 299, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area has lake views and waterfall trails; the highway climbs, so take it slowly with a long rig.

Lassen Volcanic National Park lies to the east. Much of the main park road is usually closed by snow in March, but the southwest entrance area is often reachable for a winter look at the volcanic landscape. Pick a dry afternoon for outdoor plans, since March weather in the north end of the Sacramento Valley changes quickly.

Tips for visiting

  • Contact the fairgrounds early about a space in its on-site RV park, since show weekend may bring exhibitors who want the same sites.
  • Plan on Friday afternoon or Sunday if you want quieter aisles; Friday does not open until noon.
  • Pack rain gear: early March near Redding averages over four inches of rain for the month.
  • If you are shopping for a boat or a toy hauler, bring your tow vehicle's ratings from the door sticker so you can rule out loads it cannot pull.
  • Keep some cash handy; the official page notes an ATM on site but does not say which payment types the gate takes.
